Meet our Founder: Carole Klingler

Carole founded A Dementia Friendly LIFE in late 2016 after years as a nurse and director of a nursing home.

Carole spent years as an ICU nurse, and was the Director of Nursing for Kendal at Oberlin. She also worked as an adjunct faculty member for Lorain County Community College Allied Health and Nursing Program and in Hospice and Palliative Care in the role of Team Leader and Community Facility Coordinator for the Lorain County Team.

Carole holds a BSN from Indiana Wesleyan University and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner. Carole also earned an associate degree from Lorain County Community College and works as an adjunct faculty member for Lorain County Community College Allied Health and Nursing Program. Carole began her career as an ICU nurse in a Cleveland Hospital which ultimately led her to a career in geriatrics. Carole also has 10 years of experience as a Director of Nursing for Kendal at Oberlin a Continuing Retirement Community where she worked a total of 15 years.

Since May of 2010, Carole has worked in Hospice and Palliative Care in the role of Team Leader and Community Facility Coordinator for the Lorain County Team. Carole also sits on the Board of Directors for Leadership Lorain County where she is also an alumnus and the Lorain County Joint Vocational Advisory Council for Allied Health Students. Carole has over twenty years’ experience with student engagement.

Carole is the co-founder and CEO of LIFE a Dementia Friendly Foundation which is a 501 (c)3 grassroots ministry focused on supporting those touched by dementia and offering community education.

Carole is one of only three Master Trainer’s for Dementia Friends Ohio.
